About Bobby

The approach that strongly informs my practice and the most powerful cutting edge therapy model in addressing individuals, couples and families in need of counseling help is Emotionally Focused Therapy or EFT To this end, I am considered an Advanced EFT Clinician by the ICEEFT (International Center for Excellence in Emotionally Focused Therapy).

As individuals seeking therapy, my clients have worked through life, work and career barriers more quickly, including some of the mood problems like anxiety and depression which tend to co-occur.   EFT directly addresses the underlying causes of these difficulties and in doing so accesses self-awareness and self-agency. This in turn facilitates change by identifying and removing the obstacles to feeling better about one's self.

As well,  EFT provides a framework for turning the corner on couple dissatisfaction. In fact, EFT shows significant clinical data as noted by the American Psychological Association (APA) to support its 72-75% successful outcomes for couple clients. Recognizing the 'stuck'  patterns that freeze communication in relationships,  you will transform the negative cycles of interaction into conversations which are more satisfying and constructive, where active and engaged listening becomes the norm and not the exception.

Couples:

* I'll help you both make sense of and then end the confusing messages and behaviors that are fueling patterns such as blaming, harsh criticism and more hurtful conduct like infidelity or drug and alcohol abuse.

* I will aid you and your partner in de-escalating the relationship tensions and then facilitate a more receptive atmosphere where you can safely turn toward each other and in the direction of repairing the broken bonds beneath the damaging words and behaviors.

* If your partnership issues are not too problematic and just need refocusing, then our work together will change the around-in-circles going nowhere conversations into authentic and sensitively honest ones, where you and your partner will begin to feel real empathy and caring for one another.

* Maybe, at this moment it seems like a far-off dream to think that your problems could be effectively addressed and changed for the better, but it is very possible that with my assistance, both you and your partner can experience a life together that will be remarkably fresh and new and satisfyingly different.

* If you are finding your partner is reluctant to come to therapy,  I would encourage you to consider working with me one-on-one for a short period of time and it's very likely they'll get curious about your sessions and will be more willing to join us some time soon after.

Emotionally Focused Couple Therapy also helps:

* partners become better and more engaged listeners,

* create safety in enabling partners to reach out to each other with vulnerabilities and needs,

* in establish a solid foundation for a more connected and loving life together; and

* provide valuable tools and skills in order to maintain it.
